Ang-Ray draws his inspirations from great artists such as El Greco, Delacroix, van Gogh, Cezanne, Picasso, de Kooning, Bacon & Serra among others.

Born on the island of Borneo, in South East Asia, Ang-Ray moved to Singapore at the age of 13 to continue his education there. After graduating in business administration and economic, he further his studies in London. He has lived and worked in Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong & London before coming to work & paint in NYC. Through his travels, he enjoy meeting and connecting with many people of different races, religions and cultures. Embracing their colorful backgrounds and diversity, he expresses this world view in his artwork. He invites his viewers to connect and bond spiritually with his art.

His earlier paintings were influenced by the Post Impressionist & Expressionist artists, especially van Gogh, Seurat & Monet. Later works were influenced by the Abstract Expressionist artists, namely Kandinsky, de Kooning, Pollack, Hoffman & Gorky. His current work continues to evolve in three main series:
